How it works
Fraxel® DUAL 1550/1927 laser treatment targets aging and sun-damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin to expedite your body’s remodeling of collagen. And since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes very rapid healing. Fraxel® DUAL 1550/1927 treatment resurfaces your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.

The Science Behind The Treatment
Fraxel works via a laser that pinpoints targeted, microscopic areas of the skin. It treats below the superficial layer of the skin in order to cause targeted destruction to old and damaged skin cells. Through this, the body is forced to replace the damaged cells with new, more elastic skin. It works to replace tissue that has been lost due to scarring, in addition to removing benign dark pigment and tightening skin. Fraxel targets 5 to 50 percent of cells in order to leave a large amount to heal the treated areas.
Fraxel is safe to use on the hands, neck, chest and face.
Because of how it is built, Fraxel has results that are both immediate and progressive. Once the treated areas have healed, the skin becomes softer, more evenly pigmented, and more elastic.
How to Prepare
Let us know if you have a history of cold sores or have ever had an adverse reaction to light or laser treatments in the past. We may suggest specific skincare products prior to and after treatment for optimal healing.
What to Expect
Before You Arrive
First, your skin will be cleansed. Then, about 60 minutes prior to treatment, a topical anesthetic ointment will be applied to the treatment area. The Fraxel® DUAL 1550/1927 procedure takes 20 to 25 minutes for a full face.
After Treatment
After the procedure, the treated area will be pink, almost like you’ve gotten sunburn. You may experience some swelling and bruising in the area, which can be treated with ice. After treatment, the skin will be red, feel warm, and can be mildly swollen. To help soothe the skin and promote healing, platelet rich plasma (PRP), a component of your blood, will be applied to your face after the Fraxel treatment. We will draw a small amount of blood and spin it in a centrifuge causing the blood components to separate. The platelet rich plasma is collected and applied to the top of your skin. You will be given in-depth aftercare instructions, which you should refer to after your treatment
What It Will Feel Like
Most patients describe an increased sensation of heat during the treatment. To minimize discomfort, topical anesthesia is applied before the procedure and cold air is used on the treatment area during the procedure. After the treatment, most patients feel like they have a sunburn, which usually diminishes in 1 to 3 hours.
Post-procedure Care
Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, avoid direct sun exposure for at least 3 months after your last treatment, and wear a wide-brimmed hat when you’re in the sun.
