Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy or PCIT) treats fine lines, acne scars and improves of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels which allow topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. Collagen P.I.N. is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.
Microneedling stimulates growth of collagen and elastin by creating tiny holes in the skin. These tiny holes work to ‘wake-up’ the cells in the surrounding area to make the skin look younger, more elastic, and full. They also allow select compounds to travel deeper within the skin in order to magnify their effects.
Let your provider know if you have ever had any injectable medication before or any other procedure to treat wrinkles. Also let her know if you have a history of cold sores or have ever had an adverse reaction to dermal fillers, injectable botulism or similar treatments in the past. In addition, let your provider know if you have any history of blood clotting disorders. Our providers may suggest medications prior to and after treatment for optimal healing.
Please be sure to gently cleanse the area being treated and remove all makeup in the area prior to your procedure time.
Because microneedling is an uncomfortable treatment, it is recommended that you schedule a one hour topical numbing appointment prior to your procedure.
When it’s your appointment time, your topical numbing will be wiped off and your face cleansed. Eye shields will be placed over your eyelids. An ointment will be placed on your skin during the procedure, which will help to enhance the results you’ll see.
After the procedure, the treated area will be pink, almost like you’ve gotten sunburn. You may experience some swelling and bruising in the days afterwards, which can be treated with ice. You will be given in-depth aftercare instructions, which you should refer to after your treatment.
Most patients find microneedling uncomfortable without topical numbing, which can be placed at a numbing appointment one hour prior to your procedure time. With numbing, most patients do not feel the procedure.
Ice packs can be applied to ease swelling and bruising. There will also be an aftercare kit of creams and ointments that can be purchased to maximize results. We will give you in-depth aftercare instructions at your appointment and are available to answer any questions as needed.
